On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Paul Staehle and his wife, Karine Staehle, have been struggling to make a new life for themselves in Kentucky. It hasn’t been easy, and Paul still has yet to find a job. With his wife’s happiness on the line, Paul finally talks to his Karine about going back to Brazil temporarily. Read on to learn how Karine responds.
Paul Staehle takes his family to a wastewater treatment facility
On a rainy day in Kentucky, Paul takes his family, complete with their son, Pierre, to a wastewater treatment facility. Paul tells Karine that she can see how they “treat” the water in America.
“Things have been really tense since Karine went behind my back to an immigration lawyer a couple weeks ago,” Paul tells the cameras. “Karine’s frustrated with me because she’s given me a two-month ultimatum to find a job or go back to Brazil, and it has been two months, and I still haven’t found work yet. She’s made it very clear that she really wants to go back to Brazil.”
Paul wants Karine to see what America “has to offer.” “I’m taking Karine to a water treatment plant so she can see some of the other things that America has to offer for our community,” Paul tells the cameras. He also mentions that the actual reason for going there is because he’s going to try and get a job, and he thinks it will “help” having his family there.
“I think Paul taking me to the water treatment plant is ridiculous,” Karine says to the cameras. “He is obsessed. If Paul knows so much about pipes, he should find a job as a plumber.”
Paul meets up with Barry, the superintendent of the plant, and they go on a tour of the facility. Paul says it’s “impressive.” It’s raining, and Karine takes the umbrella from him and says, “You crazy, dummy.”
Paul tells the man who took them on a tour that he had a good time, and he asks about employment at the facility. They aren’t hiring, but Paul thanks the man for the tour regardless. Paul then asks Karine if she “had fun,” and she says, “No.”
Paul and Karine talk about going back to Brazil temporarily
Karine says she gave him two months to find a job, but he still doesn’t have one. She’s lonely in America, and she misses her family. “I can get why Karine’s frustrated,” Paul tells the cameras. “It has been two months, and I still haven’t found work yet. Raising a family in America is a lot harder than I anticipated. And I’m really disappointed I can’t support my family. But I’m realizing that If I want to make this marriage work, I need to keep my word, and we go back to Brazil for a little bit.”
Paul asks Karine if she wants to go back to Brazil, and she asks if he has money. He says he has enough to buy plane tickets, and that they should go back to Brazil for a little while.
His wife seems to agree with the plan. “I’m happy, I’m excited,” Karine says.
Paul mentions that they’ll have to live with Karine’s family, and that it will be “different.” Paul says they are going back “temporarily.” However, he’s worried Karine won’t want to come back to America after this.
It sounds like Paul and Karine are headed back to Brazil as a family. We’ll have to see how it all goes.
