Law & Order: SVU is already on its record-breaking 21st season. It makes sense to take a look at the most controversial opinions fans have about the popular series. Read on to learn more and you probably won’t believe some of these. There are spoilers ahead for the most recent season of the series.

Rollins and Carisi have underused chemistry

Reddit is full to the brim of fans clamoring to share their opinions about what they might consider controversial about the show. Fans that are caught up with the series know that this season has been full of new changes for the SVU cast, especially for Det. Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Carisi (Peter Scanavino), who is now the ADA of the squad.

Rollins and Carisi’s chemistry is on fire and it’s sad to see them having problems processing the new changes coming to the squad, especially Carisi’s move to leave and start his career as a lawyer. Fans see the chemistry between them as being underused and too limited.

“I think that Rollins and Carisi have a lot more chemistry than Rollins and Amaro,” a Reddit user wrote. Another also agreed with the sentiment. “Agreed! Too bad they keep messing up Rollins’s character so badly,” someone else wrote.

Some viewers of the series aren’t huge fans of Captain Olivia Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) choices and feel she should be punished or even fired for some. “Benson is a bad CO. She does not follow the law, and should be demoted, if not fired,” a Reddit user said.

Elliot Stabler wasn’t loved by all
Christopher Meloni

Det. Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) was a popular part of SVU for over a decade. Many viewers truly loved his character and his dynamic with his partner, Olivia Benson. But it seems not everyone was such a big fan of Stabler after all.

“Stabler was not the best character on the show. I’m glad he’s gone,” someone wrote.

“Stabler as a character wasn’t that interesting, but having 2 lead characters that show different viewpoints and play off each other well is sorely missed by the show,” another user agreed.

“In general, I like post-Stabler SVU more than Stabler SVU,” someone else admitted.

“I prefer the post-Stabler seasons,” another Reddit user also said.

Det. Amanda Rollins is a unique breed all her own. Fans have really gotten to know her and love her character over the years. “I love Rollins. I know she’s a bit of a loose cannon, but no more so than Stabler was really,” someone else wrote.

“Amanda is one of the best characters in my opinion; she’s comfortable with herself, something most female characters lack in anything. There aren’t many female characters on TV that are as confident in there sexuality, which makes me like her even more,” someone else agreed.

Not everyone likes Carisi
Carisi was a detective with the SVU squad before he became the ADA in season 21. Apparently not everyone would consider themselves fans of his character. “I don’t like Carisi–maybe it’s because he was introduced as a obnoxious, sleazy-looking character, but that apparently never wore off for me. It also always seems like he’s trying too hard which annoys me for some reason,” a Reddit user noted.

Since Law & Order: SVU has been around for so long, there’s bound to be numerous unpopular opinions among fans. These are just a few of the controversial ones Reddit has to offer.
