Lori Loughlin Hiding Her Money Ahead Of College Admissions Trial?

Is Lori Loughlin really hiding her money in anticipation of going to prison? A tabloid is claiming she is, but the report is false. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

The National Enquirer has been relentlessly covering the college admissions cheating scandal that Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have been caught up in. The publication’s coverage has been universally false and this latest wild allegation is no exception. In the piece, the outlet purports that Loughlin “plans to stash her cash in secret hidey-holes.” That’s right, the ridiculous tabloid is claiming Loughlin is actually hiding cash in hiding places, not transferring money to offshore banks in the Cayman Islands or Switzerland or something that would at least be slightly believable.

The oft-incorrect outlet quotes a supposed “source” as saying, “Lori is already unhinged about spending any amount of time in prison – and now she’s obsessing about how the whole experience will destroy them financially.” Loughlin and Giannulli face multiple counts of fraud after being accused of paying $500,000 to bribe their daughter’s way into the University of Southern California. If convicted on all counts, the couple could face a maximum of 45 years in prison, though most experts think it’s unlikely they’ll receive sentences that harsh.

The supposed source adds, “Lori and Mossimo are doing everything they can to retain control of their own finances, which is ultimately within their rights even if it does seem sketchy.” The only thing that seems sketchy here is the tabloid’s flimsy fact-checking. The idea that Loughlin is “stashing away $90M fortune” as the headline asserts is very silly, but Gossip Cop still checked with our impeccable source close to the situation. We’re assured the the story is “continuous nonsense” from the tabloids.

The article also makes mention of a previous story it ran that alleged Loughlin was faking an illness to avoid prison time. This too, was false. The outlet purported that the Full House star was telling friends she was sick, but it was “a ploy to get sympathy to avoid a stiff sentence.” Loughlin wasn’t and isn’t faking sickness, as Gossip Cop confirmed when we debunked the phony report.

In October, the same tabloid incorrectly asserted Loughlin was going to turn her prison experience into a book and movie to earn millions. This was wildly false as well. The actress is very actively trying to avoid prison altogether, as her not guilty plea indicates. The tabloid’s reporting is completely untrustworthy when it comes to Loughlin and her legal troubles.
